MY CAREER JOURNEY
HEXONET Services
Marketing Manager, December 2017 - February 2021 HEXONET is a domain name registrar based out of Vancouver, BC. When I first started at HEXONET in December 2017, I was on a small team with a graphic designer and the VP of Marketing, so it goes without saying I was wearing many hats! Our primary goal at the time was to get HEXONET in front of our local community and increase our B2C market (HEXONET has both B2B and B2C customers). I did this through events, some which we sponsored, others which we hosted, and yet others which we simply attended. I also increased our online presence on social media and ensured we were the key conversation starters at all events. As well, I took a deep dive into our analytics, setting goals and using data to drive decisions. And perhaps our largest undertaking, we did a full re-brand of the HEXONET brand and website. From there, HEXONET was acquired by the CentralNic Group and was moved into the Reseller (B2B) Division. I became the Marketing/Brand Manager for the HEXONET brand, while also assisting the Head of Reseller Marketing with strategy and execution of the three other brands within our division. We were able to hire a Marketing Coordinator that became my direct report, and together we managed the HEXONET brand. Some of my tasks include: brand strategy, social media, email marketing, internal and external communication, webinars (including hosting), social media advertisement, digital analytics, SEO/SEM, copywriting, promotions, website management, event planning, and more. |
AG Hair
Digital Marketing & Trade Show Coordinator, February 2015 - December 2017 AG Hair gave me the opportunity to connect my passions with my career. The local hair care company offered me roles in various aspects of marketing, allowing me to learn where I best fit and what really gets me excited about marketing. This B2C company also allowed me to be a part of the One Girl Can organization - a non-profit started by the co-founder of AG Hair, providing scholarships and more for girls in Western Africa. At AG Hair, I managed all things digital, including social media, newsletters, blog posts and various website management tasks. I was also in charge of approximately 25 trade shows and events per year that I planned, executed and attended. During these events, I managed the sales staff that were in attendance per show, and was responsible for creating and achieving trade show goals and key KPIs. I was also responsible for all budget planning and tracking in regards to trade shows and events. I quickly became the product expert at AG Hair and was responsible for product knowledge classes both internally and externally. Internally, I was responsible for training all new staff when it came to product knowledge, and externally, I hosted various product knowledge classes for key customers. This provided me with a great base knowledge for the webinars that I hosted (again, both internal and external) at my next job at HEXONET. |
Macdonald Commercial
Administrative Assistant, August 2013 - February 2015 Macdonald Commercial was my first job after completing my Bachelor's in Business Administration and I credit this position as the first step towards my career. At Macdonald Commercial I was tasked with assisting both the Commercial Real Estate side of the business, as well as the Property Management side. Because of this, I was able to quickly learn and grow within my role. At Macdonald Commercial I was given the opportunity to assist in the following capacities: I was the receptionist and dealt with all mailings; I handled customer service requests for both sides of the business; I assisted the Property Management area by running credit checks, writing notifications and letters to tenants, assisting with AGM meetings, and more; I was trusted by our in-house lawyer to assist with legal tasks he required; I covered the Property Managers and the Property Manager Assistants during the times they were away (including replying to their phone messages, emails, answering questions, etc.); I planned and executed various events through out the year and sales meetings; and more. |
